This is an excerpt from Jocelyn’s large-scale Songs for Muska, commissioned by Conspirare. Somaia Ramish’s poem is a call to use your words to strengthen yourself while also serving as a warning. Musically, the piece incorporates Jocelyn’s trademark vitality – here captured both rhythmically and melodically. Vocal lines dart about the score in an appealing and effective manner.
