This folk song has been arranged a number of times, and even inspired the title of John Rutter’s CD “A Lark in the Clean Air.” This arrangement is for TTB and piano, and provides a simple, thoughtful musical reading. Your singers will sing in unison, two-part harmony and three-part harmony. There is also a solo verse accompanied by a three-part vocal texture. The piano part is very simple as it seems to emulate the running streams through its eighth note patterns in both hands. Gilpin has written a very sensitive arrangement of a lovely folk song, showing off a fresh side of the male voices.
