This piece is from the Stilled Voices Series (three in all) which features music from the Holocaust. This simple, yet haunting lullaby is sung to a baby left homeless after his parents are deported to the death camps. The range, harmony and text are very accessible. There is only a brief moment of divisi in the soprano which creates colorful dissonance. There is a pronunciation guide in the back of the music, but if that is confusing, a performance of the piece is available on tape through Transcontinental Music.
