This traditional song from Puerto Rico has a introduction/bridge that gives it a special touch. It is about a tree frog native to Puerto Rico known for it’s high pitched call heard at night.
El Coquí is in triple meter but should be felt in 1. The text is both in Spanish and English, allowing the director freedom to choose the challenge. The lack of chromatics might allow this to be one of the first songs your choir learns all on solfege.
