Furusato is a rather melancholy text set on top of a lush, rolling texture. With divisi in all parts, the texture thickens and thins along with the intensity of the lyrics. The melody changes hands throughout the first 32 measures, with an extended homophonic cadence closing out the first section. Moving from F major to A-flat major, the text changes from one of longing to one of hope, and then eventually returns to the home key of F major. The text is all written phonetically, with a translation provided.
