Featuring: Welcome to the Sixties, Hairspray, Good Morning Baltimore, It Takes Two, Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now, I Know Where I’ve Been, and You Can’t Stop the Beat (also SAB and Two Part; Instrumental Pak and Show Trax CD available)

This 17-minute medley is perfect for your spring pops concert. The staging and costuming possibilities are endless and will delight your audiences. Hairspray is one of the hottest shows on Broadway right now and it is coming to the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis in late winter. It’s a perfect opportunity for some enrichment and to inspire your students for that unforgettable performance. The music is fun throughout the entire arrangement and is easily accessible for most medium to advanced choirs. There are many opportunities for soloists and/or small ensembles to shine.

If a 17-minute medley is more that you care to program, there are two other new arrangements from Hal Leonard that I can recommend. The first is “You Can’t Stop the Beat” arranged by Ed Lojeski, which is available for SATB (HL08621249), SAB and Two Part. The second is “Mama I’m a Big Girl Now” arranged by Roger Emerson which is available only in an SSA arrangement. Both of these arrangements have Instrumental Paks and Show Trax CDs available.
