Let’s face it, how many times do you have students come to you asking to sing an arrangement of the newest, freshest pop tune? “I Won’t Give Up” is the latest offering from the wildly popular Jason Mraz and may help you satisfy the whimsy of your curious and insistent students! This particular settting would be wonderful to use as a ballad for a chamber choir that may be looking to experiment into the showchoir world. It includes a wonderful message and beautiful melody. The harmonies are that of the traditional pop genre, but do provide a useful challenge and could be good for solfege singing/learning. The end of the piece will really allow your singers to dig in as they are used as a gospel choir to emphasize the repeated text of the chorus. It also could allow for solo opportunities and other instrumental opportunities for any of your students.
