This is a delightful rendition of a very familiar tune that has been a favorite of many. It is a piece perfect for the beginning choir that would like to learn to sing harmony because not only does it use the familiar round, but the middle section has the melody placed with two other simple countermelodies that are just four measures long. Because of their brevity, these melodies are great for using solfege syllables and Kodaly hand signals to help the children stay on their part. The piano accompaniment is sparse and very simple, giving just the harmonic background for the voices and rarely doubling them. The coda wraps everything up very nicely, requiring the singer to think about the difference between quarter notes and half notes. This is a very simple piece that is sure to please your choir and the audience.
