An often subdued setting of this text adapted from the DIGHA NIKAYA, and a movement from Awakening, this score will challenge any choir’s ability to sustain the long phrases. It is voiced for TTBB, a cappella men’s choir, and is very tonal. The wonderful text opens “Put away all your hindrances, let your mind full of love pervade the world.” Ranges are very comfortable throughout, with the low bass sitting on low F quite a bit. The piece ends beautifully with the singers saying “with love-filled thought abounding beyond measure, and thus the world, sublime.” A beautiful work from one of Minnesota’s most recognized composers.
