An ideal project for choirs trying to focus on maintaining energy through an entire phrase, this setting of the familiar Latin text is simple and elegant. The intuitive melodic direction allows for more time to be spent in rehearsal focusing on musicality, intonation, syllabic emphasis and phrasing. Beginning with a unison statement of the theme, the piece branches out into a dramatic three-part B section (with a few measures of a four-part divisi) before returning to a slightly modified A section in two-parts. This works well as a processional, and piano provides a satisfactory replacement for the provided organ accompaniment. (Easy to Medium)
