This lovely pentatonic melody is known by all Japanese children and is intended to be sung in English and Japanese. The piece demands typical phrasing technique – legato, with a crescendo toward the middle of each line and diminuendo to the end. The range, harmonic lines and phrasing requirements make it appropriate for the intermediate and advanced singer.
