Steve Schuch has made a very effective arrangement of this beautiful French folk song set to the Middleton translation “Twas in the Moon of Wintertime” of the original Huron text for SSAATTBB chorus and ceremonial drum. This text uses Huron images, i.e., God becomes “Manitou,” the manger, a lodge of broken bark, the three Kings, Chiefs, the gifts, fox and beaver pelt, etc. Performance suggestions for alternate part settings as well as a brief history of the carol are included in the score. A performance tape is available from the publisher.
