This traditional British folk song is accompanied by piano and French horn. There are four verses and all of them are set quite differently. The first verse begins in unison octaves and splits into three parts. A short vocal interlude on “ah” leads into verse two in four-part harmony. The lower voices sing an ostinato pattern on “Mm” for verse three, while the soprano has the melody and text. The final verse returns to four-part harmony, however different from the previous verses. The piece concludes with the piano and horn.
