This is a wonderful piece to experiment with different groups and spatial arrangement of singers – encircling the audience, antiphonal, processional, etc. It is repetitive, imitative, and has a middle section of free chant that shifts to whispered text that can be tailored freely to suit the group and the venue. It is simple to learn, yet provides good challenges for the imagination to put together an effective performance.
